Daniel Wasserberg, Attorney
When asked why he became a lawyer Daniel Wasserberg will always tell you, "I wanted to help people that had been severely injured and wronged in the eyes of the law." Daniel believes in equal justice under the law and the motivating principle he carries to work everyday can be summed up by a simple quote from a Dr. Seuss book, "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better, it's not."
Daniel's path to the law was not the typical one. A graduate of Indiana University, Daniel received his bachelor's degree in Religious Studies, "It was an interest of mine at that time and to this day it helps me in understanding people and their basic needs and wants." He then continued at Indiana University's School of Law where he received his Doctor of Jurisprudence and completed a Certificate in Business Foundations that he began as an undergraduate.
Daniel is often asked what, if any, is the relationship between Religious Studies and the practice of law. He describes the connection this way, "Religions all have a lot of storytelling to them and the tales carry meaning with their particular audiences. Someone always agrees with the story in one respect or another and inevitably, someone somewhere always disagrees. Practicing law is very much the same: Our clients want their story to be heard by others. In the beginning, we listen to our client's side of the story and as their cases develop we get to argue for them. We get to tell their story.
Today Daniel is driven by his clients' stories. "Helping clients and their families by making sure companies are held accountable for injuring people is especially rewarding." He adds, "Holding big companies accountable makes them more responsible actors in the future and by extension this makes the world a safer, cleaner and better place for all of us."
When it comes to working with the other attorneys at Williams Kherkher Hart Boundas Law Firm, LLP, Daniel likes the fact that, "I really get to be myself here. We are focused on doing the best for our clients and making sure they feel like they can talk to us. I want all my clients to feel like family and to understand that any person they talk to within the firm is looking out for their best interests. Not only does Daniel have a passion for the law, he has also worked as a mentor for juvenile delinquents and has provided legal assistance to incarcerated felons. Daniel is an accomplished musician who enjoys playing guitar, mandolin and upright bass. Above all else Daniel loves spending time with his family. He is the proud father of his young daughter.
As for advice to his current and prospective clients, Daniel has this, "If you think you need it, ask for help."
