Big Spring Refinery Explosion Lawyer

February 18th, 8am: A massive explosion occurred at an Alon USA refinery in Big Spring, Texas, located 250 miles west of Fort Worth. Local authorities and firefighters responded to the scene of the explosion to find a looming cloud of black smoke rising from the refinery. As the explosion gave way to a raging fire, local residents were advised to evacuate the area until the fire could be controlled. The refinery is located alongside highway I-20, forcing the path to be closed as well. Nearby Howard College and other local schools have been shut down as the explosion and fire is monitored and brought under control.

Authorities have only reported one serious injury at this time. The refinery employee was transported to a Lubbock hospital for treatment. According to a local television station, the blast was felt as far as Gardendale, located close to 60 miles away from Big Spring. Various West Texas medical teams have reported to the refinery to assist with anyone suffering from minor injuries. Local businesses felt the power of the blast and some have reported property damage to nearby buildings. Despite the serious injury of one employee, the minor injuries of others, and property damage, this explosion has appeared to spare the lives of all those involved. With 170 employees, the Alon USA refinery is relatively lucky to have gotten everyone out alive following the massive explosion. Sources report that the Alon USA refinery produces nearly 70,000 barrels a day and has never seen a disaster to this scale during its history.
