When I first heard about the oil rig explosion in Louisiana, my thoughts immediately went to the family and friends of those affected - the fear, the helplessness, the uncertainty of what happened, and questions of what do I do next. As the story began to develop and we started to hear more about rig safety and the inherent dangers these offshore rigs pose, it concerns me to see the PR spin the Company and the media so quickly throw out to the public. We have seen this all before, especially in my profession. Companies begin to look at their investor backlash before the recovery process even begins. Our firm has represented so many families who have been in this same situation and seen them prevail in spite of these tactics. Profits over People - so overused in the legal profession, but absolutely fitting in these situations. These large companies make incredible profits daily at the expense of our families, friends and their own equipment when they choose to push for that extra dime. I've seen evidence of corporations put a dollar value on human life and decide it is more profitable to take chances on injuring someone rather than stop production and reduce profits. I am waiting for the upcoming rush of commercials by these Companies that will most assuredly be on all our televisions soon assuring the masses how well they serve the community. I'm so proud to work with WK who has helped individuals over so many years to fight this exact fight. The families of these extremely hard workers who leave their families for periods of time and work incredible hours so that the lives of their families will be better are in our prayers!"
