Williams Family Donates $25,000 to Haiti Earthquake Victims

Williams Kherkher senior partner John Eddie Williams and his family recently donated $25,000 to the Red Cross' relief fund for victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti, and urge you to join them by visiting http://www.redcross.org/en.

On Tuesday, January 12, 2010, a devastating magnitude 7.0 earthquake hit the impoverished nation of Haiti, with horrific results. The extent of the damage is so severe that it's still unclear how many people perished in the tragedy. Estimates range from 50,000 to 100,000, and the International Red Cross believes that about 3 million people are affected by the catastrophic quake.

UPDATE: On Wednesday, January 20, only days after Haiti was devastated by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake, a powerful aftershock struck the struggling nation. Though it is unclear whether the aftershock caused additional destruction or injuries, it could endanger international relief efforts, which have only recently begun to gain a foothold in Haiti.

In light of these events, your aid is more important than ever. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, with 10 million people living on roughly $2 a day. The population is unequipped to handle the aftermath of the earthquake alone, a disaster which destroyed much of the nation's capital of Port-au-Prince.

The Williams Kherkher family hopes that you will join with us to help the Red Cross and other reputable organizations bring much needed relief to the impoverished and disaster-ravaged nation.

Americans have already raised over $8 million for the cause, but much, much more is needed. Your donation, however small, will go a long way to helping overcome what is already one the most deadly natural disasters ever experienced in the Western Hemisphere. The people of Haiti desperately need your help.

There are many ways for you to help earthquake victims in need. Visit UNICEF's relief fund by going to http://www.unicefusa.org and Habitat for Humanity's donation site at https://www.habitat.org/cd/giving/donate.aspx?link=227.

You can even support the Red Cross’ Haiti disaster relief efforts by donating via mobile phone. Simply text the word “HAITI” to 90999 to donate $10 through your mobile service provider. Nearly $27 million has been raised for Haiti through text message donations – but more is needed. Please take a moment today to make your contribution.

Thank you very much for your compassion and support. It means the world to the people of Haiti.
