DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc. launched a recall of the ASR XL Acetabular System and DePuy ASR™ Hip Resurfacing Systems in response to complaints of serious side effects from a large percentage of patients. Pain, swelling and sometimes metal fragments from the initial DePuy hip replacement has led to ”revision” surgery to correct the problems.
