John Eddie Williams Gives Back to Pasadena Community

PASADENA, TX – In a tribute to his educational roots, Williams Kherkher founder and managing partner John Eddie Williams donated $100,000 to the Pasadena Independent School District Education Foundation at the sixth annual Pasadena Education Foundation / Dell Shining Stars Gala.

The Gala, held to honor the top graduating seniors from Pasadena ISD’s five high school along with their most inspirational teachers, is organized by the same foundation which awards grants of up to $5,000 bi-annually to educators throughout the district to promote exceptional, innovative, and effective education.

Williams and wife Sheridan’s donation is, according to former Education Foundation president Randy Perry, is enough to cover one full year’s worth of grants, and the largest individual donation the district has ever received.

Williams, who also served as the Gala’s guest speaker, emphasized the importance of education and hard work, citing his personal experiences as a Pasadena ISD and Baylor School of Law graduate. “Be passionate about your education. Persevere and never give up," he told the group of seniors.

Few people realize the importance of education as well as John Eddie Williams. The son of a longshoreman, Williams’ educational history – including acting as editor-in-chief of the Baylor Law Review and graduating first in his class from Baylor School of Law – is a testament to “the foundation of his education,” said Perry.

As a trial lawyer, Williams made history as part of the legal team which represented the state of Texas against the tobacco industry - litigation which resulted in the largest settlement in U.S. history. A former president of both the Texas Trial Lawyers and Houston Trial Lawyers Associations, Williams was named as a Super Lawyer by his peers from 2004-2007.

As founder and managing partner of the Houston personal injury and mass tort law firm Williams Kherkher, Williams has spent the past 25 years representing victims of asbestos, Fen-Phen, and more.

But it’s not the financial success that Williams values.

“We have always prided ourselves on being on the forefront of helping our clients regardless of changes in the law or the world around us,” Williams said. “We have fought hard for each of our clients, ensuring that every person’s right to a fair trial is preserved. Giving our clients the very best legal representation is important to us, but conducting ourselves morally and ethically is even more important.”
