Labor unions have played a fundamental role in the development of labor standards in our country, and our team at Williams Kherkher is proud to support our local unions as they continue to advocate for fair compensation and workers’ rights in the area. In fact, managing partner John Eddie Williams, Jr. grew up in a strong union household. As influential as labor unions have been, we believe it is important that we do everything we can to support local chapters to help ensure that they can continue to do their good works.

Over the years, we have had the opportunity to support local unions by getting involved with community events, discussing important legal issues with union leaders, speaking at labor union events, and conducting steward training presentations for union workers. When their members come to them during a time of legal need, union representatives have specifically referred their members to our firm for help.

Williams Kherkher to Participate in 2014 Harris County Labor Day Celebration

This weekend, Williams Kherkher is proud to be a Silver Sponsor at the 2014 Harris County Labor Day Weekend Celebration. The event will be held on Friday and Saturday at the Pasadena Fairgrounds and will feature an array of events throughout the weekend. We are excited to join in on the event in support of our union friends.

During the Labor Day weekend celebration, the whole family can participate in the BBQ cook-off, a raffle benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association, live music, a petting zoo, and pony rides. There are plenty of ways to get involved in the celebration and show your support for Houston’s workforce. Jim Hart to Speak at United Steelworkers’ Scholarship Event

Partner Jim Hart is scheduled to speak at the United Steelworkers’ Local 13-2001 Scholarship Event tomorrow, May 21.

USW Local 13-2001 is the largest union to represent employees at the ExxonMobil Chemical Plant and Refinery in Baytown, Texas. Since 1963, the union has been working to ensure that the operations, instrument, lab, and technical employees at this plant receive the treatment they deserve at work, including fair pay and safe working conditions.
