Am I eligible to earn overtime pay?
Employees in the United States should generally be paid one-and-a-half times their normal rate of pay for every hour worked above 40 hours in one work week. There are, however, exemptions to overtime pay eligibility under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) depending on the specific job. Regardless, these exemptions do not apply to many workers in the oil and gas industry.
Unless you are specifically exempted under the FLSA, your employer is required by law to pay you overtime wages when applicable. Your employer could be breaking the law if they have been trying to deceive you by telling you that you are ineligible for overtime pay for the wrong reason.
If your employer has not been paying you the overtime wages you believe you deserve, contact an attorney with Williams Kherkher to discuss your situation. To talk about recovering fair pay from your employer with an attorney, please call our offices at (888) 220-0640 today.
