Williams Kherkher Partner Provides Stewards Training for Local Pipefitters

Recently, Williams Kherkher partner Jim Hart conducted a steward training presentation for local pipe fitters to help explain some of the more nuanced aspects of labor law. Among the issues discussed in the hour-long presentation was a brief history of the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) and what might be considered a violation of it. Differences between a board charge filed with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and the grievance procedure filed through the Union’s collective bargaining agreement with the company were also identified. Finally, Mr. Hart explained workers’ rights under the grievance procedure, including Weingarten Rights, how best to prepare a grievance file for arbitration, and answered questions from the audience throughout the presentation.
