New study reveals flu shots minimize heart attack risk

Posted on Monday, October 28th, 2013 at 3:55 pm

A new study from the University of Toronto revealed that having a flu shot may cut the risk of having another heart attack and/or stroke by more than half.

According to cardiologist Jacob Udell, who is also the lead author of the study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), researchers have identified that flu shots can also be used as a way to prevent heart attacks for those who have a history of the medical condition. Udell explained that flu shots that prevent inflammation and other side effects of the flu can also prevent the heart from being strained, which is what often leads to cardiac arrest.

Unfortunately, certain birth controls, including Yaz and Yasmin, have been found to actually increase a person’s risk of having a heart attack. If you have suffered from a heart attack or other health problems due to these dangerous medications, call (888) 220-0640.
