Women have a harder time recovering from strokes compared to men

A new study has revealed that women tend to experience more difficulty in recovering from a stroke compared to the opposite sex, an article by CBS News reported on February 7.

After examining the life of 1,300 stroke patients, Dr. Cheryl Bushnell and her team at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center found that after three months women had a harder time coping with the aftermath of a stroke compared to men. Within a year, the trend is still consistent, but the difference is slightly less pronounced.

The study also revealed that married women who have a stroke are more likely to recover faster than single or widowed stroke victims.

Sadly, the oral contraceptive pills Yasmin and Yaz have been found to increase the risk of women having strokes. If you think your stroke was the result of using these dangerous birth control pills, our lawyers at Williams Kherkher can help you explore your options for suing the drug manufacturer for your suffering and losses.
